Celebrating a Decade of Community: Local Exchange's 10-Year Anniversary with Boarding Pass Coffee Part 2

Part 2: Savoring the Story of Boarding Pass Coffee

Imagine a journey that starts with a love story, is fueled by coffee, and spans continents. That's the adventure of Murilo and Christine Santos, the passionate duo behind Boarding Pass Coffee. Their story is a testament to the power of shared dreams, a love for exploration, and the rich aroma of a well-brewed cup of coffee.

In 2013, Murilo and Christine crossed paths, and their shared sense of adventure sparked a connection that would take them around the globe. With 66 and 40 countries under their belts, respectively, their love story unfolded against a backdrop of breathtaking landscapes and cultural treasures. Yet, there was something else brewing alongside their romance: an appreciation for the simple joys found in a cup of coffee.

It was during their escapades that they often found themselves winding through the Brazilian countryside to Murilo's family coffee farm, the Fazenda Sant'ana in Serra Negra. Here, amid the serene beauty of the coffee fields, they discovered the perfect escape from the demands of everyday life. Afternoons were marked by the ritual of sipping fresh coffee paired with warm, homemade cake, and it was amidst these cherished moments that their relationship deepened.

In 2014, Murilo and Christine embarked on a new adventure called marriage. The farm that had become their sanctuary was transformed into an event space for their wedding, offering a picturesque setting with rolling coffee fields stretching in every direction. Surrounded by loved ones, they exchanged vows in the farm's quaint chapel. The reception that followed was a fusion of American and Brazilian traditions, with Murilo serenading Christine with Samba renditions of Marvin Gaye classics.

As a parting gift for their guests, the newlyweds offered personalized packages of Fazenda Sant'ana coffee. The gesture was so well-received that they found themselves frequently asked to bring back more coffee for their friends and family in the United States. The seeds of Boarding Pass Coffee were sown.

In early 2020, Christine and Murilo started offering Fazenda Sant'ana coffee for the true farm-to-cup experience.

Boarding Pass Coffee proudly offers a range of coffees, including their medium-light roast from Costa Rica, which received a Bronze medal in the 2023 Golden Bean roasting competition. When tasting their coffee, you'll find it remarkably smooth, devoid of any harshness or bitterness. Even non-coffee drinkers will find themselves captivated by its notes of chocolate and caramel.

So, whether you're a coffee connoisseur or a novice, Boarding Pass Coffee invites you to embark on a journey through "coffeeland" with them, all within the warm embrace of the Local Exchange. Take a sip, and you'll not only taste the authentic flavors of their coffee but also the rich story of love, travel, and dedication that goes into every cup.
